Success Stories using Federal Supply Schedules

Navy Embraces Benefits Of GSA Schedule BPA's

The Navy establishes BPA's with four GSA Schedule vendors, estimated to be worth $90 million. Low prices, low procurement costs, and the prospect of speedy technical refreshments cited as big benefits. (Source: Government Computer News, October 21, 1996)

Navy seeks multiple BPA's with GSA Schedule vendors for $850 million in services. Larger discounts, reduced procurement time, and reduced post-award contract administration make BPA's a "smart business practice" for the Navy. (Source: Federal Computer Week, December 2, 1996)

The Navy establishes three more BPA's with GSA Schedule vendors, estimated to be worth $75 million. Two of the BPA's go to vendor "team" arrangements, and vendors describe the process as an "efficient, competitive procurement". (Source: Federal Computer Week, December 16, 1996)

Treasury Scraps Traditional Procurement Method In Favor Of GSA Schedule BPA

Described as precedent-setting, the Treasury Department establishes a BPA with an estimated value of $300 to $500 million. Prices represent a discount of about 29 percent. Treasury's solution-oriented BPA approach allowed it to focus on technology requirements and vendor capabilities, rather than the mechanics of conducting acquisition. Federal Aviation Agency Flys To New Heights With GSA/FSS Multiple Award Schedule Contracts

The Federal Supply Service, General Products Center, has enhanced Multiple Award Schedule 61, Part V, Section B - Power Distribution Equipment to include items critical to the Federal Aviation Agency's (FAA) needs for the National Airspace System. Schedule additions all FAA to procure and install an entire Backup Power System in a more streamlined manner.

In a memorandum to GSA, FAA states in part, "...The availability of schedule enhancements, such as the maximum order provision, allows us to purchase Power System Equipment at substantial savings to the FAA." Recently FAA realized a savings of $397,000 on a $1.56 million dollar procurement of switch gear for their large Terminal Air Traffic Control facilities. This substantial savings represents an additional 25 percent off the current GSA negotiated discount price of 55-61 percent off for these types of products.

FSS and FAA are committed to a long partnership in procurement of commercial products to support mission critical projects for the National Airspace System, ...another Thrilled Customer.
